My love for sports and coaching has played a big role in my fitness journey. I am highly motivated to encourage others for the win! My passion is to see people of all ages reach their potential and grow and learn. I have struggled with weight from a young age and have found the importance of falling in love with the journey and the irreplaceable impact that an active lifestyle has on my mental well being. I'm a busy wife and mom of two. I encourage those alike to fill their cup and make themselves a priority so they can pour into their children and others. Being active is something I was born loving. From hiking Half Dome several times, growing up with livestock, riding horses, kayaking, working on our property or working out to get my mind right; being an active person comes naturally to me. However, exercise is not an activity that comes easily for me every day. I have found that consistency, accountability, and constantly learning new forms of exercise or nutrition all play a huge part in keeping me motivated and on track with my physique and inner health goals. I truly believe and know that overall health is all about finding a mind, body, and spiritual balance. This is what makes me passionate about helping others on their fitness journey and finding their own personal balance. My background in professional dance brought me to the fitness industry where I've spent years teaching a variety of training methods and, by my own trial and error, formulated a solid program for high level physical fitness and overall health and well being. I love trying new sports and have taken a shot at everything from aerial acrobatics, to Hawaiian outrigger canoeing, snowboarding, triathlons, rock climbing, surfing, and most recently, women's softball. I train the same way, trying to constantly mix it up so my body is prepared for anything. Fitness is a journey, one with no end. The key is to learn to make it fun and grow to love the process. I am an energetic yoga teacher who is passionate about helping students start and maintain their personal practice. I believe the tools we learn in class can be carried into our daily life and I strive to cultivate a space for exploration and curiosity. When I came to yoga after graduating high school, I was just looking for a fun and relaxing way to get into shape. What I found when I dropped into my body was a feeling akin to coming home. It didn’t take long for me to get hooked. My goal is to reach as much of the community as possible and spread the healing qualities of this practice as best I can. I found yoga during a dark time in my life. I had depression, anxiety, GI issues and was in and out of the hospital. I was encouraged by a close friend and my therapist at the time to try yoga. I had a strong feeling that it would be “my thing” because of my background in dance and was drawn to the spiritual components of the practice. Once I got into the practice, I was hooked. After moving around, searching for my path, I eventually landed in San Francisco and spontaneously signed up for a teacher training. In April of 2018 I graduated with a 200 hour certification from Go2Yoga in hot Vinyasa. I began teaching heated Vinyasa power flow, non-heated slow flow and low-heat Hatha in San Francisco and Pacifica, CA. I moved back to Calaveras County, subbing here and there, and started summertime Yoga In The Park in my sweet little hometown of Mokelumne Hill. Teaching yoga is my passion and an abundant source of healing. It’s also taught me how to trust myself on and off the mat. My favorite part of teaching is watching personalities open up on the mat; seeing how uniquely gifted each student is. My hope is that you leave feeling proud of yourself and grateful for your body- it’s as simple as that. Certifications Past and Present: 200 Hour Hot Vinyasa Yoga Certification- Go2Yoga Studio |
